M.A.T.D Adjudicator & Examiner
Carolyn Coulson started Arts Theatre of Dance in 1992 on the Gold Coast after studying dance in Victoria for many years, and having a successful dance school there before moving to Queensland searching for the warmer climate.
She started dancing at the age of 5 and throughout the years has studied and successfully completed all her Jazz and Tap exams and eventually, as an Adult achieved a Diploma as an Adjudicator in Dance. Miss Carolyn also has had a highly successful journey competing in all styles of Ballroom dancing. She loves teaching and has a kind and friendly teaching style about her. Surrounding herself with wonderful staff and students has been the reason why Arts Theatre of Dance has been on the Gold Coast so long.
With a strong passion for Dance, Miss Carolyn’s vision is to instill into her dancers the same love for music, movement and dance as she has.
Teacher – Diploma of Arts (Dance & Performance)
Miss Jane has worked for Arts Theatre of Dance since 2009. She enjoys teaching all ages, across a variety of styles. Miss Jane was classically trained in Cecchetti ballet, jazz and contemporary at Carole Oliver School of Ballet (Ballarat, Victoria). She then went on to broaden her skills with ballroom dancing at The Dance Studio. Wanting to pursue a career in performance, Jane moved to Melbourne and studied full time dance at The Dance Factory. Here she completed her Certificate III, IV & Diploma of Arts in Dance & Performance alongside receiving the DFTA teaching qualification in both jazz & tap. She was later offered a position in The Dance Factory’s agency to enter the professional field.
Miss Jane went on to perform at numerous live shows, conventions, corporate events and pantomimes across Melbourne & country Victoria. She also appeared in TV commercials, series & film. During 2005 she began dance teaching and found that this was her true calling. Miss Jane believes that passing on this love and passion for dance to others is a truly rewarding experience. She feels privileged to be involved in such a warm and friendly dance school environment and thoroughly enjoys working with Miss Carolyn at Arts Theatre of Dance.
